Carmen’s oldest son David was newly returned from active duty in the National Guard. She thought he was looking pretty buff and thought that should be captured. The image was created with natural light at her Phoenixville studio.

The portrait session was commissioned by the mother to capture his smile before any baby teeth fell out. A bottom tooth was already loose. It was early Monday morning 7:30 am and “The Candidate” was captured with natural light while he was waiting for Carmen to “get ready”. His mother called later that afternoon to say his tooth had fallen out.

A “mom” wanted to surprise her husband with a private portrait. This elegant partial nude was presented as part of a wallet album collection for Christmas.

Simple, clean but with an attitude, this portrait was created during a session with his mother and brother.

Carmen had a rare opportunity to photograph a woman from early in her pregnancy till the last month. This image combines architecture from a cathedral in France with a portrait created with natural light in Carmen’s Phoenixville studio.

“Out of the Mist”

Carmen fondly and repeatedly comments that where she lives is heaven on earth. The mist appears early many mornings in the late spring. Her neighbor’s daughter was game to be on call for an impromptu sunrise portrait session. This portrait was created with Piper the calmest riding horse on the property.

The portrait session was commissioned by the mother to capture her family before the oldest child left the nest. Taken in early June, the session was almost over when Carmen noticed the setting sun. Their love for each other and their children was clearly evident.

Carmen toured six French cities summer ’08. Her first stop was the town of Chartres, home of the meditative Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth. Near dusk she spotted this eatery but was too intimidated to go inside to eat.
